Beijing increases grip on Taiwan, showdown around island: “Simulated attacks with 9 warships and 58 aircraft”

Beijing has deployed nine warships and 58 aircraft around Taiwan, according to the island’s Defense Ministry on the second day of Chinese military exercises.

Beijing’s state-run Cctv TV explained that since yesterday, April 8, joint “precision attacks against key targets on Taiwan Island and surrounding waters have been simulated.” A full-fledged show of force by air as well, with dozens of planes deployed to “fly into the target’s airspace,” adds Chinese state TV, while ground forces are practicing “precision attacks on multiple targets.”

The Taiwanese government claims China’s military movements would also serve for “surveillance and intelligence reconnaissance” with the use of both fighter jets and bombers.
