Poland is building a barrier on the border with the Kaliningrad region of Russia. There are plans to install three rows of barbed wire at once, the Polish Ministry of Defense reports.
Barriers are being erected to strengthen security on the border with Russia. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Defense of Poland, Mariusz Blaszczak.
The high-ranking official noted that earlier barriers were erected on the border with Belarus. Based on this experience, three rows of barbed wire will be installed. In particular, 3 meters wide and 2.5 meters high.
In addition, the Polish plan to install devices that allow electronic control of the border with the Kaliningrad region. “We want the border with Russia to be tight,” Blyshchak emphasized.
The Minister of Defense also noted that the mentioned fence has already saved Poland from the flow of migrants who were brought to Belarus.
In my deep conviction, this was a plan written in the Kremlin, the purpose of which was to destabilize Poland in order to prevent the support of Ukraine. At first they wanted to destabilize Poland, then they attacked Ukraine, Blaszczak emphasized.
What is known about the fence on the border with Belarus
At the end of October 2021, the Polish authorities announced their intention to build a fence on the border with Belarus. Poland and the Baltic countries accused Belarus and Russia of hybrid aggression using an artificially created migration crisis.
Thus, in the summer of 2021 of the same year, thousands of migrants from the countries of Asia, the Middle East, and Africa gathered at the borders of Belarus with Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland. All of them tried to get to the EU. The construction of the wall near the Polish-Belarusian border was completed in early October 2022.
