Scandal in Poland over possible fall of Falcon 9 rocket fragments

The Polish authorities are searching for those responsible for the uncontrolled re-entry of the Falcon 9 space rocket fragments from American billionaire Elon Musk’s SpaceX company over Poland’s territory.

As reported by RMF24, in the morning, the head of the Polish Space Agency POLSA was summoned to the Ministry of Development and Technology, where he claimed that the agency had not properly informed the country’s authorities about the threat posed by the fall of Falcon 9 fragments over Poland and was obliged to revise the notification procedures.

The agency’s notification was allegedly sent to an outdated email address of the defense ministry, which is why it was de facto not received.

Unofficially, journalists learned that the defense minister, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, is now demanding that a way be found to dismiss the head of POLSA, who was appointed by the previous government.

POLSA issued a statement in this regard, saying that the message did not reach all the right recipients due to a problem with the email. At the same time, they emphasize that the warning could have done little to help, as it is impossible to predict whether the object will burn down completely, and the location of a possible fall cannot be predicted more accurately than within a few hundred kilometers.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours of February 19 and was confirmed later that day.
