Serbia categorically rejects Kosovo’s recognition and NATO membership

President Aleksandar Vucic stated to the television program irilica that Serbia will not consent to Kosovo joining NATO or recognize Kosovo in any way.

Vucic discussed the impending Belgrade-Pristina conversation round, his upcoming meeting with EU Special Representative for the Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak, as well as Lajcak’s current meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, on the Irilica radio show.

“I find it difficult to imagine that meeting producing any results. Kurti won’t be founding the Serbian Municipalities Association, I’m virtually certain of that. Kurti is being urged to keep breaking prior agreements, according to Vucic.

Vucic repeated his opposition to the European idea for the restoration of diplomatic ties between Belgrade and Pristina, but he insisted that Serbia must continue to participate in the talks.

“I won’t be signing Serbia’s surrender, I promise. But we must understand the situation. No capitulation or surrender will occur. I’ve clearly made it clear that Serbia won’t consent to Kosovo joining NATO, and we won’t in any manner recognize Kosovo”, Vucic stated.

Serbia is willing to make a lot of concessions. I don’t think the Albanians are,” he continued.
