On the morning of October 31, explosions were heard during an air threat alert in Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Poltava, and other regions of Ukraine. The Ukrainian air defense forces shot down several missiles but some of them hit the energy infrastructure – the main target of the Russian terror attack, Channel 24 reported.
The Russian invaders launched missiles at the Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions. The air threat alert was announced in the entire country.
Kyiv region
The head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration Oleksiy Kuleba reported that the air defenses shot down missiles in the region and urged residents to stay in shelters until the air alert was over. At the same time, according to Suspilne TV, explosions were heard in Kyiv around 8:05 local time.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed the power outages and also noted that there are problems with the water supply in the Ukrainian capital after the Russian shelling.
Vinnytsia region
There were also explosions in the Vinnytsia region. The head of the Regional Military Administration Serhiy Borzov said that the air defense system was activated in the region and urged citizens to stay in shelters.
Later, local authorities reported that a downed Russian missile, unfortunately, fell on civilian buildings. There is destruction, but no casualties or injuries. Rescuers went to the site.
Poltava region
The residents of the Poltava region also heard explosions. The head of the Regional Military Administration Dmytro Lunin also reported the successful work of the air defense forces.
Kharkiv region
The head of the Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov said that the Russians are launching missile strikes in the Kharkiv region. Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov confirmed at least 2 explosions in the city. The invaders hit an infrastructure facility.
Later, Mr. Syniehubov said that the Russians attacked the Kharkiv and Chuhuiv districts of the region. Probably, the invaders used S-300 missiles launched from the Belgorod region of Russia.
Cherkasy region
Russian invaders launched a missile attack on one of the infrastructure facilities in the Cherkasy region. The head of the Regional Military Administration Igor Tabunets said that part of the region was left without an electricity supply after the Russian attack.
Zaporizhzhya
A series of explosions hit Zaporizhzhya city. Secretary of the city council Anatoliy Kurtev said that the Russians attacked critical infrastructure. Because of this, part of the city was left without electricity.
Information on the scale of destruction and victims is being clarified.
