In the context of Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine and mounting tensions between Moscow and the EU, the Polish information environment has become an important hub for spreading and growing Russian-aligned news. Certain media channels and opinion-makers in Poland have played critical roles in propagating messages that frequently mirror Kremlin talking points.
At the center of this network of Kremlin hybrid influence stands the magazine Myśl Polska, whose content has become a consistent vector for anti-Ukrainian, anti-Western, and pro-Russian messaging. It ranged from criticisms of NATO and EU policies to questions about Ukrainian sovereignty, eroding Europe’s support for Kyiv and shifting the responsibility for the war from Russia to the West.
These narratives use national sovereignty, religious and cultural identity, and historical memory to sway public opinion, foment division, and call Poland’s transatlantic orientation into question. As a result, there is a constant battle for public opinion, in which disinformation and propaganda ideas circulate extensively, sometimes gaining significant momentum in domestic disputes.
Jan Engelgard: Promoter of Pro-Russian and Anti-Ukrainian Narratives in Poland
Jan Engelgard is a Polish historian, veteran editor, and the long-standing editor-in-chief of Myśl Polska. Under his leadership, the magazine, once a respected outlet of the national-democratic tradition, has become a major vector for the dissemination of pro-Russian and anti-Ukrainian narratives.
Olga Jastrzębska, a researcher at the Institute of International Studies at the University of Wrocław, covered this outlet in her 2018 work, “Pro-Russian internet portals in Poland and other central European countries: an essential element of Russia’s information warfare.”
Polish observers noticed the “Mysl Polska” banner at a small rally in Poland in support of Russia in 2014, following the Russian annexation of Crimea and the outbreak of the war in Donbas.
Studies show Myśl Polska articles and Engelgard’s posts are frequently cited or amplified by Russian propaganda outlets and pro-Russian Telegram channels in disinformation campaigns targeting both Polish and international audiences.
Engelgard’s background as a historian, former member of PAX, and activist within nationalist parties grounds his polemical work in a posture of “pragmatic” nationalism that, since the early 2010s, routinely translates into apologetics for Moscow and systematic attacks on Ukraine, NATO, and the West.
Recurrent Narrative: “Kyiv as Manipulator, Poland as Victim”
In his articles, Engelgard frequently dismisses warnings that a Russian victory in Ukraine would endanger Poland as “propaganda by Kyiv,” flipping the narrative to suggest Poland is a pawn for Ukrainian interests.
He writes, “There is a so-called official narrative and public opinion belief that Ukraine’s defeat will mean that we will definitely be attacked by Russia, which is a cunning propaganda move by Kyiv.”

Delegitimizing Solidarity and Western Policy
Engelgard frames Western and especially American influence as manipulative, with Poland depicted as a “vassal” state.
Repeating Kremlin-favored topics about missed peace opportunities and blaming Ukraine for prolonging the conflict, while failing to condemn Russia’s neo-colonial and imperialistic full-scale invasion, Engelgard writes:
“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s refusal to sign the Istanbul Treaty with Moscow will cost the lives of thousands of Ukrainians,” Engelgard writes in an article for Myśl Polska. “One thing is certain—in any case, this was probably the last chance to stop the conflict and save the lives of thousands of people,’ he concluded.”
Demonizing Ukraine and Mobilizing Moral Panic
Echoing Kremlin culture war framing, and conspiracy theories, Engelgard leverages tropes about Ukrainian “racism,” “Satanism,” and Western decadence:
“Open Satanism and outright racism are thriving in Ukraine, and the West only supports this. We are dealing with what Orthodox elders call the ‘civilization of the Antichrist.’”
He posted a post claiming that “demonization of Russia is harmful for the Poland government and elites,” which was picked up by the Russian propaganda outlets which are on the sanctions list in Europe.
“RIA Novosti. Poland is experiencing a crisis in the “elites” and governing bodies, which is having a negative impact on the conduct of foreign policy, journalist Jan Engelhard wrote in the newspaper Myśl Polska.
“All that is possible is to pursue a policy of hysteria, incitement, calls for confrontation, and preaching, even if it contradicts the reality around us and the real interests of Poland,” Engelgard noted.
Engelgard subverts the idea of global support for Ukraine to help the country defend against Russian assaults by casting it as the result of “propaganda,” stating:
“Promoting the propaganda thesis that Ukraine is fighting for the entire ‘free world,’ for Europe, and therefore for Poland to exist or not to exist, is very convenient for the authorities in Kyiv, because it gives them support, military, financial, and political assistance. (…) Thus, Poland has fallen victim to its own propaganda and the dogma that this is ‘our war,’ Engelgard said.”
Engelgard describes the dominant policy response as “hysteria, incitement, calls for confrontation, and preaching,” warning that this contradicts “the reality around us and the real interests of Poland.”

Anti-Western Accusations and justifications of Russian Policy
He claims, “Information about the CIA’s activities in Ukraine once again proves that it was the US that started the armed confrontation,” writes Mysl Polska. Kyiv has been de facto turned into a NATO member, and now the Ukrainian Armed Forces are fighting in the interests of those who seek to weaken Russia as much as possible.”
Engelgard even indulges in direct conspiracy and vilification of opposition figures, opposing the summit of Russian opposition forces in Poland, claiming that other “satanists,” including Western intelligence agencies, the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU), and finally George Soros, are also involved in this operation.”
“But it would be an oversimplification to claim this is 100% true, as there are indications that other ‘satanics’—including Western intelligence agencies, the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU), and finally George Soros—are also involved in this operation. Consider one of the ‘stars’ of this ‘opposition,’ Ilya Ponomariov.”
(Note: Ilya Ponomariov is a Russian opposition politician known for his strong stance against the dictator Putin and Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. He was the only member of Russia’s State Duma to vote against the annexation of Crimea in 2014. After facing political persecution, he went into exile, settled in Ukraine, and obtained Ukrainian citizenship.)
Engelgard claimed that “the thesis that “Kyiv is fighting for the entire free world” is false Ukrainian propaganda” and “Poland is a victim of Kyiv’s manipulation,” and his claim was spread by sanctioned Russian propaganda outlets ria.ru and lenta.ru.
“RIA Novosti. Poland’s pro-Ukrainian position has driven it into a dead end, Myśl Polska editor-in-chief Jan Engelgard writes in an editorial. “Promoting the propaganda thesis that Ukraine is fighting for the entire ‘free world,’ for Europe, and therefore for Poland to exist or not to exist, is very convenient for the authorities in Kyiv, because it gives them support, military, financial, and political assistance. <…> Thus, Poland has fallen victim to its own propaganda and the dogma that this is “our war,” Engelgard said.”

His narratives include the claim that “the Ukrainian oligarchs and Western corporations are making enormous profits from war” and “Ukraine politely advised Polish farmers to grow flowers and marijuana, not grain,” which was picked up by Russian media.
“On the one hand, Ukraine is demanding massive military and financial aid, but at the same time, its oligarchs and Western corporations operating in Ukraine are making enormous profits from this war. In turn, one lobbyist representing the interests of large agricultural producers in Ukraine politely advised Polish farmers to abandon grain production because they are “too small” and to focus on growing fruit, vegetables, flowers, and marijuana. In this context, declarations by countries like Latvia, or perhaps Poland, regarding ongoing budgetary aid for Ukraine sound grotesque or like a dark joke.”
This coverage not only shifts the blame for the war from Russia onto the West but also incites protests of farmers and directs their hatred to the Ukrainians.

Engelgard is the author of several books, many of which promote narratives critical of NATO, the EU, and Ukraine, while being openly sympathetic or apologetic toward Russia. Notable titles include:
- “Wirus rusofobii: szkice polemiczne” (2010) — Contains polemical sketches addressing what Engelgard perceives as irrational anti-Russian sentiment in Polish public life.
- “Testament Dmowskiego. Niemcy-Rosja-Polska” (1996), “Roman Dmowski o Rosji i “Ukrainie”—Analyzes the Polish national interest through the lens of Dmowski, often advocating pragmatism with Russia.
- “Stepan Bandera w Kijowie: kulisy rewolucji na Ukrainie” (2014, co-author)—Critically examines Ukrainian nationalism, often drawing from Russian narratives that emphasize Ukrainian “Banderism” as dangerous for Poland.
Role as Amplifier and Source
Under Engelgard, Myśl Polska has been repeatedly referenced, amplified, and cited by Russian state propaganda media (RIA Novosti, Inosmi, Lenta.ru) and serves as a prolific source for Telegram and disinformation channels, both in Poland and Europe-wide. This amplification loop makes Engelgard’s writings and the publication an important part of the pro-Kremlin narrative ecosystem that targets the governments of Poland, the EU, and Ukraine.
Jan Engelgard’s columns offer a consistent repertoire of anti-Ukrainian, anti-Western, and pro-Russian claims directly cited and republished by Russian media, contributing to the construction and defense of narratives promoted by the Kremlin in its information warfare against Ukraine and European allies. His explicit use of recent conspiracy rhetoric, demonizing language, and anti-solidarity frames underscores his central role in sustaining and legitimizing Russian-aligned propaganda in Poland’s public debate.
Professor Anna Józefa Raźny: Pro-Russian Advocacy in Polish Discourse
Professor Anna Józefa Raźny is a former professor at Jagiellonian University, widely recognized for her expertise in Russian literature, Russian culture, and Orthodox Christian civilization. Her early academic career focused on celebrated Russian writers and spiritual themes, yet her public profile came to national attention when she signed a 2014 open letter supporting Moscow’s actions in Crimea as protective measures for Slavs and Christians. The controversy is discussed at Interia.pl, and her support for the aggressor is covered in this article.
“A Krakow professor praises Moscow. “It represents Christian civilization.” The text by the retired professor of the Jagiellonian University appeared in the weekly magazine Myśl Polska, in the April 10 issue, i.e., after reports of Russian war crimes in towns near Kyiv, including Bucha and Irpin,” writes Jakub Krzywiecki.
“Russia’s triumphant return to Christianity after the fall of communism took place at a time when the West had distanced itself from these values and denied the civilizational significance of Latin Rome. Its role was naturally taken over by Moscow as the Third Rome,” claims Raźny.
Raźny concludes that “the war raging in Ukraine is a war between the new Western civilization—installed in that country since the victory of the Euromaidan in 2014—and the Christian civilization represented by Moscow. The division of Ukraine, which is already visible, will be above all a civilizational one. It will be marked by the boundaries of the Moscow Patriarchate’s influence.”
We have to say that this is a weird interpretation of history and comparison with the current Russian war of aggression, especially for a professor at a Polish university. And these claims perfectly fit Russian state propaganda messaging.
Transition from Scholarship to Propaganda and Conspiracy
Raźny has served as editor and contributor to academic works on Russian identity and culture, with repeated emphasis on Orthodox spirituality and Dostoyevsky’s vision of Russian “uniqueness and mission”.
Following the letter, Raźny became a regular contributor to Myśl Polska—a publication known for propagating pro-Russian viewpoints in Polish debate. Her writings frame Polish foreign policy not as a reaction to Russian aggression but as a manifestation of “Russophobia” instigated and “manipulated by NATO and American influence.”
She laments what she sees as the loss of Polish identity through Westernization and EU membership. For an example of her arguments, see this article: https://myslpolska.info/2023/02/16/prof-anna-razny-upadek-cywilizacyjny-polski-2/.
Analysis shows that her favorite narratives are “victimization of Russia”: she repeatedly presents Russia as a victim of unjustified Western aggression or “Russophobic” hysteria; demonization of Polish authorities: she argues that Polish participation in Western policy is “suicidal,” suggesting it serves Western, not Polish, interests; and denigrating Ukrainians: she frames the war in Ukraine as a Western proxy conflict with little acknowledgment of Ukrainian sovereignty.
Anna Razny, in her article, uses Russian propaganda terms and narratives, calling Ukrainian drone strikes at Russian military installations “terrorist attacks,” as well as criticizing the West’s support of Ukraine. Razny utilizes such narratives to discourage the Poles from supporting Ukraine in the war against Russia, manipulating the fear and anxiety around drawing Poland into the Russo-Ukrainian war.
“This disregards not only Poland’s increasingly deteriorating situation amid the escalating war in Ukraine and Kyiv’s expanding terrorist attacks in Russia but also downplays the emerging geopolitical threat to Poland. This threat stems from Germany’s growing military strength and the increasingly pro-Ukrainian and simultaneously aggressive policies towards Russia pursued by its new Chancellor, Friedrich Merz,” she wrote.
Civilizational Frame and Spiritual War
Raźny depicts the war in Ukraine primarily as a civilizational and spiritual contest, not a colonial invasion of a neighboring state by an imperialistic power. She asserts that Russia “is the last bastion of Christian values standing in opposition to a secular, liberal transatlantic order,” which invariably led to the United States and the EU.
In another article, Prof. Razny manipulates the theme of Christianity and the need for union between Catholic Poland and Orthodox Russia, twisting the facts that Russia was “coerced” to invade Ukraine to protect the “Russian-speaking and Orthodox population of Donbas.”
“Many indications suggest that the issue of “Russia’s conversion” stems from an assessment of its participation in the war waged in Ukraine against the United States and NATO.”
“This disconnect invalidates the fundamental argument for Russia’s attack on Ukraine: defending the Russian-speaking population of Donbas from Kyiv’s military operations, which have been directed against them since 2014, including neo-Banderite ethnic cleansing. Why only from February 24, 2022 is the date of the beginning of the Russian invasion?”
In her review of a book by Russian neo-fascist ideologist Alexander Dugin, “The Manifesto of the Great Awakening and the Writings of the Wartime” (published by the Library of Mysl Polska—translated by Mateusz Piskorski), Anna Razny hails Dugin’s imperialist and ultranationalist views, including the concept of the Third Rome.
“Dugin believes that the Christian roots of Europe were not destroyed by communism, but by liberalism, especially through two main influences: the cultural revolution against nationalism and the idea of genderism. <> This is primarily because his concept of a Eurasian empire bears the hallmarks of yet another utopian vision of Russia—it marginalizes or even invalidates one of the most valuable aspects of Russian spiritual identity—the idea of Moscow as the Third Rome.”
Echoing Russian narratives, Anna Razny claims that Russia and its state-controlled Moscow Orthodox Patriarchate “define the boundaries of Christian civilization,” playing along with Kremlin narratives of the confrontation between “the soulless West and Christian Russia.”
“The current war in Ukraine has a deeper dimension: it is a struggle for the global government of souls, claimed by the West, led by the US. This is the meaning of the war between the NWO civilization and the Christian civilization represented by the Third Rome. The boundaries of these two civilizations are already clearly defined, regardless of the geopolitical and economic outcome of this war. The universal civilization of the “people of Davos” will encompass “NATO territory” and its sphere of influence. The Moscow Patriarchate’s influence will define the boundaries of Christian civilization.”
Sanctions and military aid for Ukraine are presented as acts that erode Polish sovereignty and culture. Notably, she reposted the Kremlin propaganda claim that Russia’s invasion was provoked by Western powers and should be viewed within a narrative of Christian restoration.
Her editorial and academic output repeatedly stress themes such as “Russian spiritual uniqueness and Orthodox tradition,” with an emphasis on criticizing Western modernity and its supposed moral deficiencies.
Propaganda Lexicon, Ideological Alignment, and Dugin’s Influence
Raźny’s rhetorical approach involves presenting Russia as an unfairly victimized actor, suffering from longstanding Western “Russophobia.” She frequently attributes Polish hostility to an imported American “anti-value” system and labels Ukrainian agency as subordinate to Western manipulation—in effect, denying Ukraine’s independent motives and reducing its conflict to a proxy war.
In her coverage of recent warfare, she has adopted the label “terrorist attacks” for Ukrainian drone actions, deploying phrases and concepts directly traceable to Russian government communications.
Razny reinforces a recurring motif of Kremlin propaganda about growing “Russophobia” in the West, which stems not only from the Russian aggression against Ukraine but rather from “the innate hostility towards Russians on the basis of various arbitrary reasons.”
“The current Russophobia in Poland is not solely a reaction to the ongoing war in Ukraine between the collective West and Russia. Such a reaction would be understandable if Russia were to make any territorial or financial claims against us or even to threaten us militarily.”
Criticism of Western Alliances and Polish Government
Anna Razny blames the US and NATO for “waging a war in Ukraine against Russia.” Razny also condemns the installation of the fence on the border with Belarus, ignoring the fact that such fortifications were dictated by the need for protection against countless waves of migrants from the Middle East who moved through Belarus with the aim of destabilizing Poland.
“A selective morality, subordinated to a single anti-value: the war with Russia, waged by the US and NATO in Ukraine, also prevails in patriotic-conservative circles.”
“This hostility is directed toward Russia and Belarus by the ideologists of America’s global hegemony and the supremacy of transatlanticism. A significant symbol of this hostility is the wall that Poland has erected on its border with Belarus and is beginning to erect on its border with Russia. Warsaw—as a result of its pro-war activities and savage Russophobia—transformed itself into the European capital of this American-NATO “empire of good.””
Raźny’s alignment with Russian narratives is further reinforced through her overt admiration for Russian neo-fascist ideologists such as Alexander Dugin, with whom she shares the conviction that Moscow should serve as a “Third Rome”—the spiritual and civilizational guardian against the spiritual vacuum of contemporary Western society. You can read the full review, which details her engagement with Eurasianist ideology, here: https://myslpolska.info/2022/12/20/prof-anna-razny-jeszcze-o-duginie/
She also repeatedly condemns American cultural influence over Poland, characterizing it as the vehicle for “genderism,” secular liberalism, and economic subservience—while advocating consideration of alternatives like BRICS membership over the “vassalage” of Euro-Atlantic alliances.
Raźny persistently frames American and EU cultural influence as responsible for the decline of Polish moral life, advocating for alternatives such as BRICS and criticizing the lack of interest among Polish elites in joining non-Western alliances.
Anna Razny also questions the legitimacy of Karol Nawrocki, the newly elected president of Poland, and the Polish government, labeling them as “self-proclaimed” and supporting her argument with the assertion that the Polish elites are merely “puppets of Washington”:
“The political and moral culpability of the self-proclaimed elites ruling Poland is evident here. Yet, there is no accountability, nor even any discussion of it. At most, one might whisper subtly that the strategic alliance with the United States, which directs NATO’s actions, is the source of such a suicidal policy.”
Razny asserts that Europe and Poland have been vassalized by the US. Razny criticizes the US, the EU, and Poland for “a moral decay of Europe, which was enforced by America.” She also criticizes the Polish government for not joining BRICS.
“The consequences of US pressure in this area are dire—the US has managed to impose its own moral decline on Europe, which has fully implemented the anti-Christian agenda of the American guru of the 1968 Cultural Revolution, Herbert Marcuse. Poland has caught up with Europe in the process of Americanizing its culture and social life and—contrary to PiS propaganda—has taken no steps to legally ban these posthumanist ideologies. <…> The only way to escape these posthumanist utopias would be the BRICS option, which rejects the concept of any cultural or civilizational enslavement in its program. The Polish establishment prefers the discredited neoliberalism of transatlanticism.”
In addition to her academic and editorial work, Raźny is a recurrent guest on Catholic and nationalist media, where she further promotes the vision of Russia—particularly Putin’s Russia—as a savior of Christian civilization, a theme overused in the Kremlin propaganda.
This narrative is amplified when she slams Poland for building defensive barriers against Belarus or Russia, asserting such policies are dictated by “transatlantic ideology” and represent aggression toward Christianity itself rather than rational national security measures.
Raźny regularly challenges the legitimacy of the Polish government, portraying national leaders as “self-proclaimed elites” beholden to Washington and criticizing their policy decisions as dismissive of national interests.
Consistently, Raźny manipulates sensitive topics central to Polish-Ukrainian relations and historical traumas—such as the legacy of Stepan Bandera or the Volhynia massacre—to foster resentment against Ukraine, often using such topics as further justification for Polish rapprochement with Russia.
In reviews and polemics, she repeats the claim that NATO and EU leaders, with full Polish complicity, have promoted “anti-Russian” policies purely out of prejudice, and not as a response to Russian aggression and expansionism.

Professor Anna Józefa Raźny’s intellectual path reveals how acknowledged academic authority may become a pipeline for pro-Kremlin propaganda. Raźny legitimizes Russian policy by integrating narratives in civilizational, spiritual, and historical frameworks, exploiting Polish concerns about tradition, sovereignty, and identity.
Her work is a powerful example of how domestic academia may become part of larger influence operations attacking social cohesion and Western alliances in Poland, as it is distributed through sympathetic media outlets and acknowledged by Russian state-linked information actors.
Mateusz Piskorski: Architect of Pro-Russian Narratives in Poland
Mateusz Piskorski, born in 1977 in Szczecin, is a Polish political scientist, former MP, academic lecturer, and the most prominent pro-Russian influence figure to emerge from Poland’s political scene since 2014. Holding a PhD in political science, Piskorski has moved from academia to the heart of Poland’s pro-Kremlin influence networks.
He co-founded the openly pro-Russian, pro-Eurasian “Zmiana” party and led the European Center for Geopolitical Analysis, a Warsaw “think tank” deeply implicated in Russian influence campaigns, including providing “election observation” for Russian-orchestrated referenda in Kremlin-occupied territories of Ukraine and receiving funds tracked to Russian laundromats.
Charges of Espionage and Arrest
Piskorski was arrested in 2016 by Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW) on charges of espionage for Russia and China. Investigations and leaked documents revealed his extensive contacts with Kremlin strategists, including over 100 email exchanges with Sargis Mirzakhanian, a Russian political technologist orchestrating disinformation campaigns targeting all of Europe.
Piskorski was reportedly tasked with organizing public protests, shaping pro-Kremlin messaging, and relaying Moscow’s strategic objectives into Polish and EU debate.

Kremlin Narratives and Ideological Influence
Piskorski is a prolific commentator for Myśl Polska, Sputnik, and Russian-aligned portals, as well as the translator of the chief ideologist of Russian neo-fascism Alexander Dugin’s “Manifesto of the Great Awakening” into Polish (with Myśl Polska’s publishing house).
He uses doctrinal, populist, and pseudo-academic rhetoric to normalize Kremlin talking points and advance narratives undermining Poland’s alliance with the West, while promoting so-called “Eurasian” and anti-liberal ideological blueprints for Europe.
His articles systemically promote several pillars of Kremlin-aligned disinformation:
Gas, Energy, and Sanctions:
Piskorski routinely blames EU energy policy and sanctions against Russia on US “suicidal” interests, framing Russia as the only reliable economic partner:
“The Americans made no secret of the fact that the real motive behind imposing import barriers on Gazprom and other Russian gas companies was to take their place. They have been quite successful. A little over three years after the start of the Russian operation in Ukraine, we already have a clear picture of what this suicidal energy policy has led to for our continent.”
Denial of Ukrainian Sovereignty and Democratic Legitimacy:
He describes post-2014 Ukraine as devoid of free speech, routinely calls the Maidan a coup, and characterizes Ukrainian policy as “a marathon of lies.”
“Ukraine… freedom of speech and freedom of media activity do not exist in… intensified particularly since the 2014 coup and the start of the current phase of the war…”
Blaming Kyiv for Genocide and Wartime Losses:
He shifts blame for war crimes and even “genocide” onto Ukrainian leadership, mirroring the Kremlin’s attempts to invert the public record:
“Will Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his team ever face trial for their decisions leading to the destruction of the Ukrainian nation? They may even survive for years in the form of some kind of cabaret-like puppet regime in Kyiv.”
NATO as Aggressor, the US as “Arsonist”:
Piskorski derides NATO’s expansion as a provocation that threatens Poland and the region, repeating that NATO acts as “a firefighter who starts more fires” and supports escalation to maintain its relevance:
“There is another paradox that is more relevant to us today and therefore poses a very real threat: NATO is being rearmed and expanded in the face of a Russian threat that it itself has created. It is like a firefighter who starts more fires in order to convince others of his indispensability and irreplaceability. The problem is that the North Atlantic arsonist is ready to set fire to the homes of his closest neighbors (Ukraine). And a fire so close by can easily spread to our homes.”
Legitimizing Russian Occupation and Denying Russian Crimes:
He echoes V. Medvedchuk and other Kremlin proxies, using Russian propaganda terms like “Kyiv regime” and “Novorossiya,” debating peace on Moscow terms, and attacking Western investment as destructive to Ukrainian sovereignty:
“Ukraine will not join the European Union. NATO, which it has de facto joined, is the source of its tragedy. If the pro-Western regime in Kiev is maintained, the country will become a playground for ruthless investment funds, such as the American BlackRock, which has already signed agreements with Volodymyr Zelensky, who is completely subservient to the globalists.”
“Denazification,” Anti-Ukrainian Stereotyping, Accusations of Terrorism:
Piskorski frequently amplifies Russian claims about “neo-Nazi” elements in Ukraine’s military, calling out official Polish support for the Azov battalion as evidence of state-level extremism:
“Neo-Nazi sympathies. Initially, this concerned narrow extremist neo-Nazi groups and Malgorzata Gosiewska, a member of parliament from the Law and Justice party, who had supported them for years. Now, the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland has joined the group of centers that legitimize Azov. On September 12, a group of representatives of this terrorist organization visited the Belvedere Palace together with members of the families of the “defenders of Mariupol” who had been held captive by the Russians.”
Repudiation of the Polish-Ukrainian Partnership and Calls for Rapprochement with Russia:
He denounces the very notion of Polish-Ukrainian “brotherhood,” calling it idiotic and based on “Bandera-worship” and insisting that Ukraine is only needed when it harms Russia. Otherwise, it is not needed at all.”

Collaboration with Russian and International Propaganda Networks:
Piskorski’s commentary is widely syndicated via Kremlin propaganda platforms such as Russia Today, NewsPravda, and Ukraina.ru, which use his arguments to intimidate Poles about the risks of further involvement in Ukraine and to advance the thesis that Poland’s interests lie in resuming trade with Russia and ending “anti-Russian policy.”
He also publicly denies Russian crimes during the full-scale war against Ukraine, such as the forced deportation of Ukrainian children, dismissing the issue as a “fabrication by the Kiev regime.”

Example of Moscow’s information warfare in Poland
Piskorski, who was convicted and accused by Polish authorities of espionage, is the central actor in Russia’s proxy activities in Poland. From biased think tanks to party creation, from organizing events with Kremlin approval to interpreting and propagating Dugin’s toxic worldview, he has been both a direct and indirect builder of disinformation, strategic deception, and narrative subversion.
His output, which combines academic style, “alternative” geopolitical analysis, and activism, aligns with broader Russian interests, including breaking Western unity, discrediting Ukraine, and normalizing Russian domination in Central and Eastern Europe. No figure better embodies Moscow’s influence and information warfare systems in Poland, which is smart, networked, and multilayered.
Conclusion
The continued dissemination of Russian propaganda and anti-Western tales in Poland demonstrates how sophisticated current information warfare is. By presenting problematic topics in terms of civilization, faith, and nation, such messaging aims to undermine societal cohesion, erode empathy with Ukraine, and harm democratic alliances in Central and Eastern Europe.
Kremlin-inspired narratives, distributed by numerous media outlets and repeated by biased pundits, call for continued vigilance, nuanced public discourse, and robust initiatives in media literacy and information security. Ultimately, addressing these challenges is essential for preserving the integrity of democratic institutions and ensuring that public debate remains grounded in factual analysis rather than manipulated by foreign malign influence campaigns.
