Biden on supporting Ukraine and Israel: “If not us, then who?”

United States President Joe Biden said that the United States can simultaneously support both Ukraine and Israel while maintaining an international level of defence capability.

Joe Biden said this in an interview with CBS News.

The American President stated that the United States can and is obliged to do so because “the US is the most powerful nation”.

“We’re the United States of America, for God’s sake. The most powerful nation in history, not in the world, in the history of the world. The history of the world. We can take care of both of these and still maintain our overall international defence. And if not us, then who?”

The US President said both wars were mainly about the American people because, in Ukraine, one of his goals was to prevent Putin, who committed war crimes, from occupying an independent country bordering NATO allies and located on the border with Russia.

“The most important thing is ending this brutality. And hold those who committed it accountable.”

“Imagine what would have happened now if he had succeeded. Do you know of any major war in Europe that we would not be involved in? We don’t want that to happen. We want to make sure that these democracies are sustainable. And Ukraine plays a crucial role in ensuring that”.

It was reported that the US presidential administration intends to ask Congress to allocate more than two billion dollars to help Ukraine and Israel.

According to NBC News, the White House is preparing a request for additional funding with funds for Israel, Ukraine, Taiwan and strengthening border protection.

Earlier, it was reported that the White House is considering combining requests for military assistance for Ukraine and Israel into one request to Congress, hoping that this will increase the chances of approval of military support for Kyiv.

At a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Brussels, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin assured him that the US would continue to provide Ukraine with weapons to help the country fight Russian war aggression.

Ukraine’s Western allies are forming separate coalitions of nations to allocate the labour involved in producing military equipment and ammunition on a long-term approach.

This strategy aims to ensure supply and production chains are running short and moving too slowly to support Ukraine in the long run to repel the Russian war aggression. Western allies dispatch the supplies by specific areas between different groups of countries to ensure efficiency.

Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that following the Ramstein meeting in October, Ukraine received half a billion dollars in military aid. He said that it is now vital to meet the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to get through the winter while the war with Russia continues.
