Borrell: EU will provide Ukraine with 1 million rounds of ammunition in 2024

The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, expects that the EU will provide Ukraine with 1.155 million rounds of ammunition by the end of 2024.

“Our defense industry is increasing its capabilities. They have increased by 40% since the beginning of the year. And I can be sure that by the end of the year, the total number of delivered ammunition donations will be more than 1 million 155 thousand. This is a fairly accurate number,” Borrell said.

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy also said that since January 2022, the European Union has provided support to Ukraine worth approximately 88 billion euros.

He said that over the past two years, the EU has estimated its support for Ukraine at more than €88 billion, with €28 billion allocated for military support.

“In addition, the decision of the European Council… to approve a proposal for support worth 50 billion euros is important,” Borrell added.

He expressed confidence that the European Parliament would approve this decision by the end of the month.

Earlier, Borrell said that the European Union would be able to supply Ukraine with only more than 500,000 artillery shells by March instead of the promised million.

According to Reuters, since early December, EU member states have delivered only 480,000 of the promised million to Ukraine.
