Editorial Policy

Our Mission and Editorial Commitment

At Insight News, we are a team of journalists committed to providing readers with objective analytical information about Ukraine and Europe in the context of geopolitical shifts, technological progress, and environmental challenges.

Our mission is to combat disinformation, expose propaganda, and strengthen democratic values through transparent, ethical, and fact-based journalism.

We pay particular attention to debunking the propaganda of authoritarian regimes and identifying actors involved in campaigns of manipulation and foreign influence. Every publication we produce reflects our dedication to truth, independence, and accountability.

Editorial Principles and Integrity

Our Commitment to Transparent and Responsible Journalism

At Insight News, we base our editorial policy on accuracy, transparency, and independence. We believe in delivering fact-based journalism that informs, inspires, and empowers professionals across industries. Every article we publish goes through a rigorous review process to ensure credibility, neutrality, and value for our readers.

Facts Above Emotions

Insight News is a publication where facts outweigh emotions. We draw a clear line between verified facts, personal opinions, and interpretations. Every statement is verified, contextualized, and analyzed to ensure readers can trust the integrity of our reporting.

We treat all newsmakers and opinion leaders with equal respect and healthy skepticism, constantly questioning their statements and seeking the truth. No individual or institution is entitled to demand preferential treatment in our coverage.

Accuracy and Fact-Checking Standards

We uphold the highest standards of editorial accuracy. All content is verified by our editors and cross-checked with credible, authoritative sources. Statistics, quotes, and references are verified before publication, ensuring readers receive reliable and up-to-date information.

Balanced Reporting and Source Representation

When analyzing complex or conflict-driven events, we are committed to presenting all relevant perspectives. Our journalists engage with all participants and stakeholders to provide balanced, contextual narratives.

However, balance is not achieved by merely quoting conflicting opinions—it requires independent verification. As we often say: “To write about the weather, you can’t just quote one person saying it rains and another saying the sun shines.” You must look out the window yourself.”

Editorial Independence

Our editorial decisions are made independently from advertisers, sponsors, and partners. Sponsored or branded content is always clearly labeled to maintain transparency. Our writers and editors maintain full autonomy over story selection, tone, and presentation.

Ethical Reporting and Transparency

We adhere to professional journalism ethics and global media standards. If factual errors occur, we promptly issue corrections. We require contributors to disclose conflicts of interest and clearly distinguish all opinions from news reporting.

Diversity and Inclusion in Our Coverage

We aim to represent diverse voices, perspectives, and sectors across our content. Our editorial team ensures inclusive language and fair representation of gender, ethnicity, and culture in all our publications.

Reader Feedback and Editorial Improvements

We value our readers’ feedback and encourage constructive dialogue. You can submit suggestions, corrections, or ethical concerns directly to our editorial team via the contact form on our website’s Contact Page. Reader input plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity and quality of our content.

Editorial Content and Coverage

What We Write About

Insight News focuses on factually verified, analytical reporting on events and issues crucial for Ukraine, Europe, and the global community.
Our work includes:

  • Exposing and analyzing disinformation and propaganda campaigns, particularly from foreign authoritarian regimes.
  • Covering social and political transformations in the European region.
  • Examining technological innovations, environmental degradation, cybersecurity, migration, and the impact of AI on society.

Each article is a careful combination of deep analysis and verified facts. Before approving any topic, our editors ask:

“What new knowledge or insight can this topic bring to our readers?” If the answer is “none,” the story is not pursued. Every publication must pass the “cooler test”—it should be engaging enough to make readers want to discuss it.

What We Do Not Cover

We do not produce content based on rumors, biased speculation, or unverifiable information. We avoid amplifying manipulative narratives and refuse to serve the interests of any political, commercial, or ideological actor.

Our Audience

Insight News serves a democratically minded audience aged 20 to 65—urban professionals, members of the creative industries, policy analysts, and active citizens.

Our readers are curious, globally aware, and intellectually engaged. They are tired of shallow news and seek analytical, insightful journalism that helps them understand complex global and regional processes.

Our Format: Explanatory Journalism

Insight News is an online publication of explanatory and insightful journalism. We present complex issues in clear, accessible language, helping readers grasp the essence of events that shape the world around them. We prioritize depth, accuracy, and context over sensationalism or speed.

Editorial and Ethical Standards

1. Media Hygiene and Source Verification

  • We only use verified, official, and reputable sources.
  • Anonymous Telegram channels or untraceable platforms are never cited.
  • Any anonymous information must be independently confirmed by at least two credible sources.
  • Anonymous quotes are published only with legitimate justification, discussed in advance with the editor.
  • The source’s identity must be disclosed confidentially to the editor-in-chief or deputy.
  • Editors are bound by strict confidentiality.
  • If a journalist refuses to identify a source to the editor, the material cannot be published.
  • The editor-in-chief or deputy has the final say on whether a source is trustworthy.

We do not reference manipulative publications unless essential to expose or contextualize misinformation. In such cases, the origin of the data is clearly stated, and the information is rigorously verified.

We consult only recognized experts—not self-proclaimed analysts or politically affiliated commentators.

Reports from state-controlled agencies such as RIA Novosti, TASS, or Xinhua are treated as government propaganda, not as journalistic content.

We avoid involvement in corporate conflicts unless they have significant public interest (e.g., involving tax evasion, monopolistic behavior, or public figures).

Any mistakes detected after publication are corrected immediately, with a transparent note indicating the correction.

2. Communication with Sources and PR Representatives

  • Our primary stakeholder is always the reader.
  • We do not compromise journalistic integrity for access or relationships.
  • Insight News journalists must avoid financial dependence on information sources.
If attending a meeting initiated by a PR representative, a journalist should limit expenses to the simplest refreshment (tea, coffee, or water).
  • We do not promise publication or editorship approval to any external party.
  • Only direct quotations may be agreed upon with the interviewee.
  • During interviews, journalists must announce and record the editorial conditions.
    The following principles apply:
    • Press services cannot demand or film specific questions.
    • They may not add or delete questions or modify answers.
    • Any interference is noted transparently (e.g., “Answer deleted by the press service”).

Journalists must follow media hygiene rules even in their personal social media activity—refraining from spreading unverified information or biased commentary. Insight News also does not participate in press or tourist tours organized by state or business entities.

3. Conflict of Interest

All employees must disclose any potential conflicts of interest to the editor-in-chief in advance, including family ties, financial relationships, or shared projects. If the editor-in-chief discovers an undeclared conflict, they have the option to either assign independent verification of the material or reject it altogether.

4. Plagiarism

Every text is checked for originality before publication. Plagiarism or unauthorized reuse of materials results in immediate editorial review and disciplinary action.

5. Editorial Hierarchy and Governance

  • The editorial board makes strategic editorial decisions through discussion and consensus. The editor-in-chief’s decision is final if they cannot reach a consensus.
  • The editorial board also functions as an ethics commission, reviewing issues such as plagiarism, bias, and breaches of journalistic ethics.
  • The editor-in-chief or deputy oversees day-to-day editorial operations, determining whether materials meet Insight News’ standards.

6. Commercial Independence

  • A strict “wall” separates the editorial and commercial departments.
  • Advertising partnerships cannot influence editorial content.
  • Commercial materials are clearly marked and published only in designated sections.
  • Neither department may interfere with the other’s work.
  • The editorial team cannot block lawful, clearly labeled advertising.
  • Commercial content must not mislead readers or breach legal and ethical norms.

Corrections and Accountability

Insight News is committed to transparency. If factual errors are identified, they are corrected swiftly and visibly. Each correction is noted at the end of the article, ensuring full accountability to our audience.

Our Ethical Promise

Every story we publish reflects our commitment to truth, democracy, and journalistic integrity. Our role is to provide accurate, balanced, and courageous reporting—even in the face of disinformation and propaganda.

At Insight News, facts come first, independence is absolute, and readers always come before power.
