EU has implemented sanctions against Wagner PMC and RIA FAN

The European Union has imposed sanctions against the Wagner Group terrorist organisation and the associated propaganda media outlet RIA FAN. This is stated on the EU website.

According to the decision of the EU Council, PMC Wagner led the attacks on the Ukrainian cities of Soledar and Bakhmut in January 2023 and is actively involved in Russia’s war against Ukraine. The organisation is responsible for supporting actions that undermine and threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.

RIA FAN is said to be involved in pro-government propaganda and disinformation about Russian aggression against Ukraine. The publication is a part of the Patriot media group, which is chaired by the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeniy Prigozhin.

On 11 April, it became known that Canada was imposing new sanctions against Wagner.
