Peter Magyar, a rival of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, has accused him of pursuing a “campaign of hatred and dehumanization against his real opponents.”
Magyar claimed on Facebook that this “campaign of hatred and dehumanization against his real opponents” outperforms even “the worst Nazi and communist propaganda.”
He shared a photo that he claims appeared “at one point in the regional newspapers affiliated with the government.”
“With this photo, which is fake in every detail, they want to humiliate him as a husband, father, politician, and human being,” he told CNN.
Magyar claimed that the Fidesz party had flooded the internet with “fake images and videos created with the help of artificial intelligence.”
“Fidesz has flooded the internet with fake images and videos produced by artificial intelligence. They are burning billions of public money to fool people with these fake posts and advertisements. A leaked image from Viktor Orbán’s hate weekend shows that such AI-driven, fake-friendly sites are an important part of the “digital warriors” toolbox,” Magyar said.
Magyar stated that whereas Orbán spends “public money to train his ‘warriors’ to spread fake news and hatred,” the “Tisza” party community believes in “real people and real human relationships.”
Recently, the Hungarian authorities started an information campaign against Magyar in light of the upcoming parliamentary elections in April 2026, in which Orban’s party may lose its majority.
Previously, posters and films appeared in Hungary, attempting to characterize Orban’s opponent as “Hungarian Zelensky” and referring to them as puppets of external powers.
