Moldovan tax authorities freeze assets of pro-Russian leader of Gagauzia

The Moldovan tax service has frozen the assets of the head (bashkan) of the autonomous region of Gagauzia, Yevgenia Gutsul, and four other individuals associated with fugitive pro-Russian oligarch Ilan Shor.

According to the document, the decision to freeze assets concerns one property owned by Yevgeniya Gutsul, as well as properties and land plots owned by four other individuals, local media reported.

The list includes Yuri Kuznetsov, deputy head of the Gagauzia Foreign Relations Department; Nelly Petrunenko, founder of the Eurasia Association; Kirill Guzun, leader of the Union of Veterans of Law Enforcement Agencies; and Dumitru Kitoroaga, head of the media platform, which owns TV6 and Orhei TV.

In mid-May, the Moldovan court ruled to extend Hutsul’s arrest for another 30 days.

Earlier, an audit of Yevgenia Hutsul’s property and income declarations was announced.
