Polish citizens believe that its military should shoot down objects flying over Polish territory during Russia’s attacks on Ukraine, even if they are not sure what these objects are. SW Research conducted a survey for Rzeczpospolita, revealing these findings.
The poll asked the question, “Do you think Poland should shoot down objects flying over our territory during Russia’s attack on Ukraine, even if they are not sure what kind of objects they are?”
According to the survey, the majority of respondents believe that Poland should shoot down objects flying over its territory during Russia’s attack on Ukraine, even if it is not certain what kind of objects they are.
In the aforementioned poll, 58.5% of respondents chose the “yes” answer. 22.1% of respondents shared the opposite opinion, while 19.4% chose the answer “I have no opinion.”
The results differ for each group depending on gender, age, or education.
Women chose the affirmative answer more frequently—60.8% of female respondents chose “yes.” 20.0% answered “no,” and 19% of women who participated in the survey had no opinion.
55% of men support the decision, 24.4% strongly oppose it, and 19.8% say they don’t know.
On August 27-28, 2024, SW Research conducted a survey among users of the SW Panel online platform. The analysis covered a group of 800 Internet users aged 18 and older.
After Russia’s massive missile and drone attacks on Ukraine on the morning of August 26, Poland reported a violation of its airspace by an “air object” that was allegedly a kamikaze drone.
Maciej Klisz, the commander of the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command, said that the object, judging by its trajectory, speed, and altitude, was definitely not a missile and was most likely a drone.
Polish media, citing army sources, reported that they were inclined to believe that it was a Shahed and that it had been in the country’s airspace for at least 33 minutes.
