Orban: “My conscience will torment me if I don’t do everything I can to prevent Ukraine from joining the EU”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has openly stated that he will do everything in his power to prevent Ukraine from joining the European Union, justifying this by saying that he is acting in the interests of Hungary.

The Hungarian prime minister claims that in ten years’ time he “will not be able to answer to his conscience, his grandchildren, and his country if he does not do everything to protect Hungary and the European Union from Brussels’ dream of Ukraine’s accession” now.

Orbán used his post to promote yet another government survey on Ukraine’s accession to the EU, which is full of numerous manipulations and has even been moved online for greater coverage.

According to Orbán, the expansion of the European Union is a noble idea, but not when it comes to Ukraine’s accession: he claims that for the “Brussels bureaucracy,” it is a “profitable deal in the context of a lost war.”

“Ukraine will suck up every euro, forint, and zloty that we have spent so far on strengthening European families, European farmers, and European industry,” he categorically asserts.
