Polish prosecutors have sent an indictment to the Wodzisław Śląski District Court in southwestern Poland against former Law and Justice MP and former Deputy Energy Minister Adam G.
This was announced by the Polish National Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday, August 22.
Adam G. faces allegations of accepting a bribe of 171,674 zlotys (40 thousand euros) from Marek K., a Katowice-based entrepreneur, during his tenure as State Secretary of the Polish Ministry of Energy in 2019.
The accused, Adam G., and his wife fully utilized the received funds to finance their 2019 Sejm and Senate election campaigns, according to the prosecutors. This was a violation of the provisions of the Electoral Code governing the financing of election campaigns,” the National Prosecutor’s Office explained.
In addition to the former PiS MP, the case involves five other people who are charged with aiding and abetting the provision and receipt of financial benefits, as well as issuing and using fictitious tax invoices.
Adam G. faces up to eight years in prison after his detention in Katowice late last year.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s government has promised to disclose the details of financial abuse by his predecessors from Law and Justice.
