Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, has urged EU members to equip Ukraine with long-range systems and combat aircraft as quickly as feasible.

Roberta Metsola stated this at a special meeting of the European Parliament attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“We are aware of the sacrifice your people are making for Europe, and we must honor them with words and deeds. With the political will to provide easier trade, a fast-track membership process, funds for your people, help with reconstruction, training for your military, military equipment, and defense systems that you need to win”.

“And now states must quickly consider as a next step the provision of long-range systems and aircraft to protect the freedom that many take for granted,” the President of the European Parliament emphasized.
The President of the European Parliament believes that the West’s response should be proportional to the threat. And, she stressed, the danger is existential.
Roberta Metsola also told Zelenskyy that the EU would be there for Ukraine for as long as needed.
In this context, Poland is ready to supply fighter jets to Ukraine but will not be the first NATO country to do so.
There is a campaign in social media launched by Ukrainian and pro-Ukraine activists to support fighters delivery to Ukraine under hashtag #LightWillWinOverDarkness.
