Pro-Russian propaganda at a left-wing demonstration in Berlin

After a multi-thousand-strong demonstration in Berlin, the memory of communist leaders Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg was commemorated, footage on social networks sparked anger: the flag of the Donetsk People’s Republic illegally declared by Russia and anti-Western chants – Welt reports.

The content of the video of the demonstration march in Berlin on Sunday, with which thousands of people honored the memory of Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg, is now causing a stir. Amira Mohamed Ali, leader of the parliamentary group of the Left Party in the Bundestag, and co-chair Dietmar Barch will attend the commemoration of the 104th anniversary of the death of the communist leaders. Berlin’s cultural senator Klaus Lederer also laid a carnation.

In the video of the demonstration, left-wing demonstrators chant anti-Western slogans: “Mali, Donbas, Gaza City: flatten the West once and for all!”. In front of the group they hold a banner of a “communist organization” with the inscription: “The main enemy is at home.” You can also hear: “From Lucerne to Gaza, intifada Yallah!“. In addition to Russian propaganda slogans, the Jewish Forum also reports anti-Semitic chants.

Another demonstration unit features the slogan “Youth forward to unity, youth forward to struggle” used by socialist groups such as Red Youth and Combat Youth, on a flag in front of it, emblazoned with a hammer and sickle, among other things, and audible chants: “Only when the masses take up arms can socialism be created!”

At the same event, international observers noticed the “Donetsk People’s Republic” flag illegally proclaimed by Russia. It is also causing debate on the internet.

“I love that the only two places in Europe outside of Russia where this is happening are Serbia and Germany,” quipped a Polish-American engineer with a verified Twitter account and extensive reach. The original tweet, which included two group photos, came from a British correspondent and has since been viewed more than 230,000 times.

Public endorsement of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine may be punishable in Germany. The Liebknecht-Luxembourg demonstration as a political demonstration takes place every year, even after the fall of the Berlin Wall, to commemorate the co-founders of the KPD, Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht, who Freikorps soldiers killed in Berlin on January 15, 1919. It traditionally ends at the Socialist Memorial at the Friedrichsfelde Central Cemetery.
