Russian invaders continue to fire numerous missiles at civilian facilities

Russian invaders furiously attacked Ukrainian cities with drones and missiles on the night of Thursday, 20 July.

Ukraine’s air defences shot down five Russian air- and ground-launched cruise missiles and 13 kamikaze drones in the skies above several regional centres on the night of 20 July. 

Russian troops attacked 38 targets under fire at ports, piers, residential buildings, and commercial networks, mainly in Odesa and Mykolaiv.

Russians bombarded the Odesa region for the third day, destroying buildings and infrastructure in the city and the region. 

In Mykolaiv, a Russian missile strike burned down a residential house; one person died, and many were injured.

“It’s a hellish night for our people! The enemy is getting more savage and firing at civilian objects and residential buildings.

Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Donetsk regions again suffered massive shelling last night.

In Mykolaiv, Russia launched a rocket attack on a three-story residential building. 18 people were injured, 9 of whom were brought to hospital (including 5 children). The 2nd and 3rd floors of the three-story residential building were partially destroyed. 

A rescuer was injured while extinguishing the fire. Emergency workers rescued 2 people and evacuated 30 residents of the building.”

Missile attack on Odesa

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the enemy launched Onyx missiles toward the Odessa Region. The head of the regional military administration, Oleh Kiper, confirmed the explosions and urged not to remove the work of the air defence forces.

Later, he noted that as a result of the Russian attack, there was destruction in the centre of Odessa, and a fire started in an area of 300 square metres. Specialists of the relevant services were working on the spot.

The speaker of the Joint Coordination Press Centre of the Southern Defence Forces, Nataliya Humenyuk, said on air during a telethon that an administrative building in the centre of Odessa had been destroyed. Many houses nearby were also damaged – at least four people were injured.

Mykolaiv shelling

Russian invaders attacked the region with X-22 missiles.

The head of the regional military administration, Vitaliy Kim, said that the enemy hit the city centre and a fire broke out in a three-story house. 

At least one person died, and 19 were injured, including five children – one under a year old – due to the Russian attack.

The mayor of Mykolaiv, Aleksandr Senkevich, reported a missile strike in the city centre. According to him, at least five residential multi-story buildings were damaged and disconnected from the power supply.

Shahed drone attack in Sumy

In Sumy, the Ukrainian army shot down at least one Shahed-type combat drone launched by Russians at this city located close to the border. 

However, one war drone hit a building of an after-school health centre. The institution’s premises (children’s camp) was damaged and caught fire due to the attack.

Shelling of Chernihiv region

This night the Russian invading troops attacked Semenivka in the Chernihiv region with kamikaze drones “Shahed”. 

According to the head of the regional military administration, Vyacheslav Chaus, residential buildings were hit; the number of victims is yet to be identified. Evacuation of residents living nearby was organised.
