The Russian army launched massive missile attacks on Ukraine on July 8. A Russian missile hit the National Children’s Hospital, “Okhmatdyt,” in Kyiv. There are reports of casualties at the hospital.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote about this on his social media page: “A missile hit one of the premises of a children’s medical institution.”

During Russian missile strikes on Kyiv, debris fell in several districts of the city. Several residential buildings were damaged or destroyed, and fires broke out. One of the missiles fell near the Lukyanivska metro station. There are dead and injured; their numbers are being clarified.
Later, Vitali Klitschko clarified that there were already nine victims in different parts of the capital. Six of them were brought to the hospital.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has published photos showing the consequences of Russia’s massive missile strike on Ukraine. The Ukrainian president claimed that the Russians had launched more than 40 missiles and condemned the invaders’ war crimes.
“Russian terrorists have once again launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine.” The attacks targeted various cities, including Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk. There are more than 40 missiles of various types. Residential buildings, infrastructure, and a children’s hospital were damaged. The entire world must unite in its resolve to ultimately halt Russian strikes. Killing is what Putin is all about. Only together can we bring real peace and security.”

On July 8 morning, Russian troops also launched missile strikes on Kryvyi Rih city. The strikes targeted both industrial facilities and civilian infrastructure. According to local authorities and the media, at least 10 people were killed.
Russia launched new massive missile attacks on Ukrainian cities a few days after Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s visit to Kyiv and Moscow for his “peace initiative,” where he met with dictator Putin and later praised his “rationality” and “readiness to offer proposals in the negotiations.”
The new Russian bombings and attack on the children’s hospital in Kyiv look particularly cynical, underscoring Putin’s failure to negotiate peace talks and demonstrating that Moscow is not in the mood for peace.
Despite the supply of advanced air defense systems by Western nations, Ukrainian cities are still not sufficiently protected. Russia has been launching massive missile strikes using various types of missiles, thus stretching Ukraine’s air defense.
For instance, in previous months, the Russians have bombed energy infrastructure and thermal power plants on a massive scale, leading to massive power outages across Ukraine. The Ukrainian military lacks the means to defend all cities and infrastructure from Russian air assaults.
