Rutte: NATO states provided Ukraine with $20 billion in military aid in 2025

During the first three months of 2025, NATO member states provided Ukraine with military assistance totaling more than $20 billion.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during a briefing with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio before the North Atlantic Council meeting at the level of foreign ministers in Brussels on April 3.

The NATO Secretary General reminded us that NATO Allies have provided over $20 billion in aid to Ukraine in the first three months of this year.

“We’ve seen the latest figures, which show that in total, in the first three months, NATO Allies have provided more than $20 billion in support to Ukraine to ensure that it can continue to fight as long as it continues,” Rutte emphasized.

Addressing U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Rutte thanked him “for his tireless diplomacy.”

“Over the past few months, you have traveled all over the world. I also want to thank you for your support of NATO. We will have a lot to discuss over the next two days,” he said.

Regarding Ukraine, the NATO Secretary General said that President Trump and his team have “moved the situation forward.”

“You have begun a process of negotiations, with our full support, to bring the war in Ukraine to a lasting, durable peace. And in the meantime, the Europeans are stepping up, providing a lot of military support to Ukraine,” Rutte added.

Rutte said earlier that the Russian threat to NATO territory will persist after a peace is achieved in Ukraine.

Earlier, the NATO Secretary General commented for the first time on the Pentagon’s “leak” that the United States would not defend Europe.

Mark Rutte also predicted that NATO members’ defense spending requirements would rise by over 1.5 times.
