20 tracked armoured vehicles will arrive in June

Robles said that 20 tracked armoured vehicles would arrive in Poland on 19 June and that her country would also hand over 4 Leopard 2A4 tanks that were undergoing repairs.

From Poland, the equipment will be sent to Ukraine. Leopard tanks will help Ukraine’s counteroffensive against Russian invading troops.

The Spanish Minister of Defence also announced the transfer of a Role 2 plus field hospital to Ukraine. The 12 containers of the hospital will meet the needs of the brigade in surgical, stabilisation and other medical measures.

The Ukrainian military, responsible for the hospital’s operation will undergo the necessary training in Spain.

Robles stressed that Spain’s support for Ukraine “in its quest for a comprehensive, just and lasting peace will remain unwavering as long as necessary”.

What weapons has Spain already transferred to Ukraine?

In December, the Spanish government handed over the first US Hawk air defence systems to Ukraine.

In February, the Spanish Ministry of Defence announced that 20 M113 armoured personnel carriers had been sent to Ukraine.

It was also reported that Spain would send 6 Leopard 2A4s to Ukraine. It was planned that the delivery of the tanks would be completed by the end of April.
