The arrival of train to Kherson: “Victory train” from Kyiv to liberated Kherson

The Ukrainian railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia has launched the train “Victory” Kyiv – Kherson. On November 19 the first Ukrainian train arrived in liberated Kherson.

According to the adviser to the head of the Kherson administration Sergey Khlan, the train arrived at the Kherson station on November 19 at 9:00. From now on, as shared by Mr. Khlan, trains will depart from Kyiv on even numbers, and Kherson – on odd numbers.

Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko said that there are 200 passengers in the train cars who have purchased tickets “to victory”. This is a joint project of Ukrzaliznytsia and the fund UNITED24.

“Like this train, we will return everything to Kherson for a normal life! Thanks to everyone who is now working to ensure that the city receives everything it needs! We are together, we are close and we are working 24/7,” Tymoshenko stressed.

More about the project of “Ukrzaliznytsia”

Recently, “Ukrzaliznytsia” launched the project “Tickets to Victory”. Anyone can buy a charity ticket for the first three train trips from Kyiv to 5 cities:

  • Already liberated Kherson;
  • Mariupol;
  • Donetsk;
  • Luhansk;
  • Simferopol.

The corresponding routes will be opened after the de-occupation of the city or region. The trains will be operated by “Train to Victory”, they are dedicated to the feats of people in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

All tickets are charitable – funds from their sale will be transferred through the UNITED24 platform to purchase cars that will connect cities and towns in the de-occupied territories with the nearest railway junctions.

Main facts about the liberation of Kherson

On November 11, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced the liberation of Kherson from the Russian invaders. Russian troops suffered a defeat and fled the city. The Armed Forces of Ukraine entered Kherson, and the retreat routes of the Russian troops are under the fire control of the Ukrainian army.

Residents of Kherson took to the streets to meet the Ukrainian military and celebrate the liberation.

And on November 14, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Kherson. Zelensky thanked NATO and other allies for their support in the war against Russia.
