The UK imposed sanctions on 11 tankers carrying Russian oil

The United Kingdom has added 11 new tankers to its sanctions list. They are linked to the transportation of oil or oil products from Russia to third countries.

This was announced by the British government, Reuters reported.

The government clarified that vessels involved in activities aimed at destabilizing, undermining, or threatening Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, or independence were subject to the sanctions.

All of these vessels transport oil or oil products originating in Russia to third countries. These vessels fly the flags of Panama, Gabon, and the Cook Islands.

These vessels and their masters or pilots are prohibited from being accessed by British ports. The UK Ship Register may suspend the registration of tankers. The UK Ship Register has the authority to detain the captains and pilots of these vessels.

On June 24, the EU Council announced new anti-Russian sanctions on tankers belonging to the Russian oil “shadow fleet.”

Earlier, the EU expressed concern about environmental risks to the Mediterranean Sea due to tankers circumventing sanctions.
