Russia is producing more content with artificial intelligence than any other nation to impact the US presidential race. This was stated by an Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) official speaking under anonymity, Reuters notes.
The intelligence officer claims that this is a component of a larger plan to assist Republican nominee Donald Trump in defeating vice presidential contender Kamala Harris.
According to the source, Russia is employing artificial intelligence to produce content aimed at improving Trump’s prospects and lowering the Democratic Party’s appeal as well as Harris’s. This covers disseminating conspiracy theories.
Russia is a more experienced actor with a better understanding of the American election system and identifies suitable targets for influence, according to the ODNI representative.
He said one instance of this was in July, when the US Department of Justice declared the end of a campaign using artificial intelligence to disseminate pro-Russian sentiments on social media.
Apart from Russia, China and Iran also apply artificial intelligence to shape world perceptions. Still, the intelligence officer claimed that they have not used it to meddle in the US elections.
Russia has previously denied meddling in American elections. A request for response went unanswered by the Russian Embassy in Washington.
For trying to meddle in the US presidential election, the US Treasury Department earlier sanctioned RT’s management and associated businesses.
Putin also recently claimed that White House President Joe Biden was his preferred candidate in the US election, but Russia would also back Kamala Harris because he dropped from his campaign and supported her.
The White House responded by urging Moscow to quit meddling in the US presidential election.
