President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia is probably preparing to perpetrate a terrorist attack at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which will lead to a radiation release.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during an emergency video address on 22 June.
“We have just had a report from our intelligence and the Security Service of Ukraine. Intelligence has received information that Russia is considering a scenario of a terrorist attack at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant – a terrorist attack with a radiation release. They have prepared everything for this”.

Ukrainian President reminded that radiation knows no state borders and that “who it will hit is determined only by the direction of the wind”.
Zelenskyy added that Ukraine is sharing all available information and evidence with partners in Europe, America, China, Brazil, India, the Arab world, and Africa.
“There should never be any terrorist attacks at nuclear power plants anywhere. This time, it should not be like Kakhovka: the world has been warned, so the world can and should act,” the President concluded.
On 20 June, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, admitted that there was a threat of an explosion or accident at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, as the occupiers had additionally mined the cooler.
