One of the airstrikes hit the center of the city. In addition, missiles struck Iranian military facilities. There are also known explosions at an airfield and warehouses. This is reported by local and international publication Reuters, citing eyewitnesses and officials.
As of the morning of 19 February, five people are known to have been killed and 15 others wounded.
“The spot strike damaged several buildings in a densely populated area near Umayyad Square in the center of the capital, where protected high-rise buildings are located in residential areas”
The building that was hit was the so-called “Iranian school,” which served as the headquarters of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. It also reportedly hit the residence of the Syrian president.
Iranian sources claim that the strikes were allegedly carried out by Israeli aircraft. However, this has not yet been confirmed by Jerusalem.
At the same time, Syria’s state broadcaster said the country’s air defense system repelled the strike near Damascus.
