Romania confirmed that a Russian war drone crashed on its territory

Romania has confirmed that parts of a Russian drone did crash on their territory during a Russian attack by the Shahed combat drones. The incident took place on the night of 4 September.

Romanian Defence Minister Angel Tilvar confirmed the information to Antena 3 CNN. However, Romanis had previously denied this information.

On the night of 4 September, the Russian terror troops fired Shahed-type kamikaze drones at Ukraine and, in particular, the area of the Izmail port on the Danube. This is near the Romanian border. One of the drones fell on the territory controlled by Bucharest.

Thus, OSINT analysts have established that the detonation of the Russian drone took place in the area at coordinates 45.328864, 28.803601 in an agricultural field.

Notably, the Romanian village of Plauru is located just less than 1.5 kilometres from the drone crash site.

What did Romania say about the fall of drone debris?

Journalists said that Romanian Defence Minister Angel Tilvar confirmed that parts of a Russian drone fell on Romanian territory after it targeted a Ukrainian port on the Danube River, which runs along the border between the two countries.

According to the publication, the wreckage of Russian weapons was found near the village of Plauru in Romania’s Tulcea County. On the other hand, on the other side of the Danube, opposite the village, is the Ukrainian city of Izmail, which Russia attacked on 4 September.

Angel Tilvar explained that as Russia intensifies its attacks on Ukrainian ports and warehouses, it will increase vigilance measures. In particular, they will set up more observation posts and patrols.

“At the same time, the equipment we use, which can technically cover this territory, remains in operation and is in a state of heightened caution and attention. We have covered a large area, including the one discussed in the public space. And I confirm that elements that could be drone parts were found in this area,” the Romanian Defence Minister said.

So, we have a case confirmed when a Russian war drone hit the territory of a NATO member state.
