Sandu’s party leads ahead of Moldova’s parliamentary elections

If the Republic of Moldova held early parliamentary elections next Sunday, four political forces would enter the future parliament.

This is evidenced by the data of the “Socio-Political Barometer—February 2025” presented on February 5 by IMAS, Ziarul National reports.

According to the survey, President Maia Sandu’s Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) would gain 25.9%, the opposition Bloc of Communists and Socialists—21.7%, the pro-Russian Pobeda Bloc, the successor to the banned Shor party—9.1%, Our Party—7.7%, and the new Inima Moldovei party of former Gagauz leader Irina Vlah—4.1%.

The National Alternative movement led by Ion Ceban received 2.1% of the total sample of 1130 respondents.

In the case of respondents who had already made up their minds, the results would look like this: PAS – 33.6%, Bloc of Communists and Socialists – 28.2%, Pobeda – 11.8%, Our Party – 10%, Inima Moldovei – 5.3%.

Note that the poll does not consider the opinions of residents of unrecognised Transnistria and the diaspora.

The survey was conducted from January 16 to February 1.

The next parliamentary elections in Moldova are scheduled for July 2025.

In December, the director of Moldova’s Information and Security Service, Alexandru Musteata, said that Russia would try to gain control of the Moldovan parliament during the 2025 elections.
