Slovakia to provide Ukraine with 10 MiG-29 fighter jets – Defense minister

Slovakia is considering providing Ukraine with ten of its eleven Soviet-made MiG-29 fighter planes, according to Slovakian Defense Minister Jaroslav Nad in an interview published on March 1.

Earlier on February 11, the Slovakian newspaper SME claimed that President Volodymyr Zelensky had requested MiG-29 fighter fighters from Slovakia and that discussions to provide the jets had begun.

These planes, according to Heger, have been decommissioned. According to Nad, the eleventh jet, which will not be delivered to Ukraine, will go to a museum.

Previously, He stated that the dispatch of aircraft to Ukraine could not be approved alone by Slovakia but would require permission from NATO allies.

MiG-29 planes, valued at $299 million, had long been sought by Ukraine to boost its air force amid Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
