Ernest Bejda, former head of Poland’s Central Anti-Corruption Bureau, was arrested on Friday, June 6, in connection with the Pegasus case.
On Friday, June 6, Bejda was arrested by order of the district court in Warsaw.
He is now required to appear before the parliamentary investigative committee on the Pegasus case.
According to documents from the Polish Ministry of Justice, he was one of those behind the purchase of the Pegasus system.
Bejda failed to appear at four committee meetings, most recently on March 31, so a decision was made to have him brought in by the police.
As a reminder, the Sejm’s investigative commission on Pegasus is investigating the legality of the use of this software by Polish services during the time when the Law and Justice party was in power and also wants to find out who was involved in the decision to purchase this tool for Poland.
In early May, it was reported that former Polish Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General Zbigniew Ziobro appeared at the Warsaw prosecutor’s office for questioning as a witness in an investigation into possible misuse of funds from the Justice Fund.
