To help Ukraine cope with the challenges brought on by the ongoing destruction of its infrastructure by Russian missile strikes, the European Parliament and the European Association of Cities have created the “Generators of Hope” initiative.
On November 23, when yet another Russian missile attack on vital Ukrainian infrastructure resulted in the loss of power for the vast majority of the country and at least ten deaths, the project was officially launched.
The launch of the project was announced at a joint press conference by Florence’s mayor, Dario Nardella, and the president of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.
The European Parliament is partnering with Eurocities, a network of Europe’s 200 largest cities, for the campaign, which is intended to help Ukraine get through the most difficult winter in its modern history, according to Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
