Macron proposed a EUR 100 million EU fund to buy weapons for Ukraine

To provide the Ukrainian army with guns and other military hardware, the EU plans to establish a special fund worth 100 million euros. According to Reuters, French President Emmanuel Macron said this in a statement.

According to Macron, “I suggested to the EU members to set up a new fund worth EUR 100 million, which would allow Ukraine to purchase weapons from European producers.”

The new fund will provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the opportunity to interact with producers directly and buy weapons from them. Additionally, the French president reaffirmed his willingness to supply Ukraine with more Caesar self-propelled weapons.

Josep Borrell, the top diplomat for the EU, stated during a news conference that this was very possible and that the war would continue. He said that he expects EU ambassadors to adopt a new EU import embargo on Russian gold later this week to demonstrate to Ukraine that the EU was not giving up.

“Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, is undoubtedly counting on democratic exhaustion. Democracies, in his opinion, are fragile. Well, no. European societies cannot afford any fatigue “Borrell stated.

An energy embargo, a prohibition on doing business with the Russian central bank, and the freezing of its assets, as well as a halt to new investments in Russia, are all part of the unprecedented Western sanctions against Russia.

Despite the destruction of Ukrainian cities and the thousands of casualties, Putin has reiterated his commitment to carrying out what he refers to as a “special military operation” in Ukraine.
