Romania refutes fake news about F-16s and Ukrainian training

The Romanian Ministry of Defense has reported the fake news spread on Telegram channels regarding the purported training of Ukrainians on F-16 fighter jets in the country. This message appeared on the official website of the Romanian Ministry of Defense.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense has called attention to an alleged report circulating online about “training Ukrainian pilots” in the country in 2024.

It emphasizes that the “document” is a gross forgery made by falsifying information in the real report on the activities of the Romanian Ministry of Defense for 2023 and contains many errors.

The Romanian ministry emphasized, “This so-called ‘information’, given a name to create the appearance of an official report, tries to give credibility to the idea that Ukrainian pilots have already started training at the European F-16 Training Center in Fetsesti, which is absolutely false.”

Bucharest confirmed that the first pilots, who were all Romanian citizens, had recently completed their training at the center.

As the Romanian Ministry of Defense points out, this is not the first time that disinformation about F-16s has been posted on Telegram, and in the context of Russia’s illegal and unjustified war against Ukraine, such attempts will continue.

Meanwhile, the official announcement states that Ukraine has already received its first F-16 fighters.
