According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine is prepared to launch its long-awaited counteroffensive to retake territories captured by Russia.
“We strongly believe that we will succeed,” he told the Wall Street Journal.
“I don’t know how long it will take. To be honest, it can go a variety of ways, completely different. But we are going to do it, and we are ready,”Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine
The Ukrainian capital believes that a counteroffensive to retake lost ground may alter the course of the conflict that has been raging since Russia invaded its neighbor 15 months ago.
Before beginning the counteroffensive, Zelensky stated in the previous month that Ukraine needed to wait for the arrival of more Western armored vehicles. For Ukraine to succeed in its ambitions, he has been on a diplomatic offensive to maintain Western support, demanding more military assistance and equipment.
Some areas of Ukraine have seen a prolonged dry spell, which has driven anticipation about the potential counter-offensive. Ukraine has expanded its attacks on Russian ammunition storage facilities and supply lines over the previous few weeks.
